Coaching Contract: Nina Postans worked with Jennifer for 12 months in monthly 90-minute coaching sessions, in a mix of virtual and physical meetings.
When did you start working with Jennifer and what stage were you at then?
I run a small production agency - we're a B Corp making content including TV ads, animations and social media videos. Before this, I was Head of Marketing, and as our CEO began stepping back, I took on a larger role to support the succession plan. I now oversee much of the management and operations while still leading on commercial decisions, marketing, and overall business strategy. I chose Jennifer to guide me through the transition into this new role and to help me work through the people-focused challenges that arise, from client relationships to staff management.
What made you decide to get a coach at that point?
I’m very forward-thinking, but I know that vision alone doesn’t build a business. You need the right people, you need them aligned behind the plan, and you need the processes that make execution possible. At the time, the agency landscape felt stagnant and challenging. Client budgets were tightening, timelines were compressing, and expectations were increasing. I could see opportunities for growth by pivoting our approach, but I needed space to think through new business and evolving client needs in a fast-shifting climate.
Working with Jennifer helped me step back and consider the long-term picture.
What's it like working with Jennifer? How would you describe her coaching?
It's been invaluable having a sounding board - someone who asks the right questions and holds me to account. Agency leaders rarely get time to think; we’re so busy working in the business that we struggle to step back and work on it. Having dedicated time each month to sit with Jennifer and unpack my thinking, instead of simply storing it up while constantly executing, has made a huge difference. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without a coach like her.
What I appreciated most is that she didn’t hand out advice. Instead, she challenged how I think. She asked thoughtful, probing questions rather than steering me toward a pre-set answer. I’m naturally someone who charges ahead with strategy, but I don’t always share or test my thinking. Working with Jennifer helped me slow down, approach things more methodically, and set timelines that are actually realistic. That shift has been genuinely helpful.
What difference has that work made for you?
She gave me the confidence to move forward with big operational decisions. Instead of sitting on them or overthinking, I worked through the process step by step - and it paid off. The outcomes have genuinely benefited the business.
Working for a small business, it's very easy to work in a silo. To have someone who actually understands not just how I work but also understands me personally was quite an eye opener in terms of achieving that balance without burnout. I've been able to recognise better ways to create more harmonious balance within work and home life.
What growth or changes have you noticed in yourself over time?
When you finally get the space to stop and think about the business rather than constantly working in it, you gain real clarity. Having someone like Jennifer to talk things through with - someone empathetic, non-judgmental, confidential, and skilled at asking the right questions - helped me find that clarity. And with that came a noticeable increase in my confidence.
Who would you recommend Jennifer to, and why?
She’s particularly valuable for people going through transitional phases in their careers - whether they’re stepping up into a bigger role or preparing to exit. She supported me a lot through succession planning, and her experience helping CEOs transition out of their businesses gives her a deep understanding of the entrepreneurial journey.
